Health Care Services

To provide our shelter residents and their children with affordable health care options, UCAP partners with Greater Baden Medical Services (GBMS).

Greater Baden Medical Services, Inc. is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) that was founded in 1972.   Accredited by the Joint Commission, the system takes pride in serving communities in southern Prince George’s County, Charles County, and St. Mary’s County in Maryland.

Comprised of six health centers that provide a spectrum of services, Greater Baden is a community–based health provider that is committed to delivering the highest quality of health care services.

Through four decades GBMS’s vision has been to eliminate health disparities and improve the health of the community through the provision of quality, affordable health care services.


Mental Health

To provide our shelter residents and their children with quality mental health services we have teamed up with RIMS (Reaching Individual Minds Successfully) Center for Enrichment and Development.

RIMS provides the following mental health services to our shelter residents:

  • Psychiatric evaluation
  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Family psychotherapy
  • Group therapy
  • Pharmacological management
  • Intensive outpatient program
  • Behaviour modification and rehabilitation

These services are provided by a board–certified psychiatrist once a month.   Weekly sessions are conducted by a licensed clinical social worker.

Substance Abuse

The licensed clinical social worker staff at UCAP provides weekly substance abuse counselling sessions with shelter residents who have or are currently struggling with substance abuse issues.   The weekly substance abuse counselling sessions are held on site at UCAP’s facilities.
